Course Description:

'' The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the specialist administration and managerial skills required to work within today’s new technology environment. The qualification leads to assessment of a broad range of complex, technical or professional work activities, performed in a wide variety of contexts and with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.

Structure
Candidates can undertake this qualification in their own workplace or they can use the college facilities on a day release basis for the purpose of gaining knowledge and for the authentication of work based evidence. The time taken to complete this course will be determined by the individual’s qualifications, experience and current job role. Students will create a portfolio of evidence to prove that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding and that they can carry out their job competently in the work place.

The standards are set by the Council for Administration and are accredited by SQA who award the certificate.

Content
The SVQ framework is made up of two mandatory core units and four optional units. The mandatory units involve the following:
- Carry out your responsibilites at work
- Work within your business environment.

Four optional units can be chosen from a selection of 18 units to reflect the work the student currently does. The qualification can be tailored to meet individual and employer needs.

Career Opportunities
The SVQ course provides students with the opportunity to develop and improve competence in an administration environment and will result in an up-to-date qualification and so enhance career progression in this field.
