'' This course will develop the creative talent and skills of students who are eager to pursue a career in any Art and Design field. Its an ideal course for individuals who have successfully completed an Art based NC course, school leavers with a qualification in an art discipline, or mature applicants who have an appropriate level of ability in art & design.
Structure This course can either be studied on a full-time basis over one year or part-time over two years. Students will work in a multi-functional arts base and have access to a wide range of art & design tools and equipment, including multi-media. Students of this course will be assessed on a continuous basis.
Content The following subject areas will be covered: - Producing Drawings - Producing Paintings - Producing Artwork using a Variety of Media - Analysing Historical Developments in Art & Design - Producing Prints - Communications - Jewellery Design - Graphic Design - Pictorial Illustration - Ceramics - Sculpture - Entrepreneurial Skills.
Career Opportunities The HNC in Art and Design provides students the opportunity to develop successfully in a wide range of disciplines including Graphic Design, Textile Design, Jewellery, Fine Art, Media, Illustration and Mixed Media.
Progression Successful completion of this course can provide students the opportunity to articulate to a range of Higher National or degree courses at a number of Further and Higher Education colleges and Art colleges.
Preferred Entry Requirements
Minimum of two Highers for school leavers - Evidence of acceptable level of ability e.g. portfolio - Mature entry is encouraged and does not necessarily require minimum academic requirements although candidates should have evidence of artwork. ...''
