Course Description:
'' This course will further develop skills and the professionalism required in Photography, with particular emphasis on the practical aspects of photographic and audio visual work. The course is of particular value to individuals who already work in this field and have a Media background or, as an amateur, have built up a substantial portfolio.
Structure This course can either be studied on a full-time basis over one year or two years on a part-time basis. The course comprises fifteen credits made up of core and optional units in order to obtain the HNC. Assessment is on a continuous basis throughout the course.
You will learn the techniques of the professional photographer in our fully equipped photographic suite which consists of photographic studios with a hi-glide electronic flash lighting system, all camera formats, still life tables and props. The darkroom has black and white printing and processing areas for both black and white and colour. There is also a finishing area with scanning, image enhancement and manipulation facilities and digital colour printing.

Career Opportunities A range of job opportunities in the media exist, particularly as a freelance or self-employed photographer. Successful students can go on to find a variety of employment opportunities within the Photography and Creative Industries.
Successful students who gain employment in the photographic industry, or who start up their own business, may apply to the British Institute of Professional Photography to obtain a Licentiate qualification
Progression You may wish to continue your studies elsewhere, completion of this course may help you to gain admission to the second year of the HND in Professional Photography and Digital Imaging.
