'' The course is industry focused with the aim of developing the required creative abilities, practical knowledge and technical skills for the design, management and presentation of visual information enabling the learners to respond to the challenges of a rapidly changing profession.
Structure This course consists of SQA units and is studied full-time for 1 year with the option of studying individual units on a part-time basis over 2 years.Learners are assessed by means of project briefs and written and practical exercises.The course is studio based with lecturers providing practical and tutorial support at each stage.
Content The subjects studied include: Visual communication, Design in context, Photography, Typography, Packaging, Digital imaging, New media design etc, using industry standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress etc, across both platforms, PC and Apple Mac.
Career Opportunities Self employed graphic design, new media designer, junior graphic designer.
Progression HND or a Degree in graphic design or multimedia.
Preferred Entry Requirements At least one of the following is required for entry into this course:- - Successful completion of NQ Graphic Design or Multimedia. - 2 Highers (preferably including Art or Graphic Communication). - Relevant work experience will also be considered.
