'' This course is aimed at any individual wishing to improve their self assertion skills. It aims to raise awareness and enables consideration of different styles of behaviour.

Structure
There are four units that make up the Self Assertiveness course. It is taught in a flexible learning mode where students are offered a maximum of 36 hours tuition over a 12 week period to complete the course. There is no formal assessment on this course.

Content
The four units covered by this course are:

Self Image
- Understanding your Present Lead Style of Behaviour
- Knowing What Makes you Non-Assertive
- Having a Clearer Idea of the Steps.

Setting Limits
- Being Able to Set Your Own Limits
- Being Able to Say ’No’
- Being Aware of Your Human Rights.

Expressing Your Feelings
- Being Able to Deal with Negative and Positive Feelings
Assertively
- Expressing Negative and Positive Feelings Assertively
- Being Able to Deal with Criticism.

Assertive Communication
- Knowing How to use Assertive Communication Effectively
- Understanding the Importance of Non-Verbal Communication
- Knowing the Methods to Use in Appropriate Situations
- Having a Personal Action Plan.
