Course Description:

'' This unit would be relevant to you if you wish to develop your knowledge of spreadsheets. It introduces features and functions of a spreadsheet for practical and effective use in an office environment. It is most relevant if you wish to develop your knowledge of spreadsheets, Excel and using statistics.

Structure
This 40-hour unit is accredited by SQA and is worth one credit. It is delivered on a part-time, flexible learning basis at the Halbeath Campus. There is no examination and assessment is undertaken in college on a continuous assessment basis.

Content
This unit covers:
- Design, Create and Use Spreadsheets to Provide Solutions to Business Problems
- Present and Use the Results of Spreadsheets in Graphical Form
- Use Spreadsheet Statistical Functions to Provide Solutions to Business Problems.

Career Opportunities
It would be relevant to persons moving into positions with a focus on information management and could potentially lead to a career at Personal Assistant level.

Progression
On completion of this unit progression can me made by undertaking the unit called IT in Business: Advanced Spreadsheets. This unit is part of the Higher National Certificate in Administration and Information Technology.

Preferred Entry Requirements
It would be beneficial if the candidate had numeracy skills, a relevant qualification or recent relevant work experience.
