Course Description:

'' To introduce participants to initial start up and basic transactions input using Sage Line 50 for Windows. This course is ideal for individuals returning to the labour market and those who wish to update their book-keeping skills by using a market leading package. This unit may also be of interest to small businesses who wish to operate their accounts on a computerised system.

Structure
The course is delivered part time in the evening and will run for 12 weeks, although some candidates may complete in a shorter timescale.

Content
The following subject areas will be covered:
- Getting started and setting up the Sales Ledger
- Setting up the Purchase Ledger
- Setting up the Nominal Ledger
- Processing Sales Invoices
- Processing Purchase Invoices
- Processing cheques from Debtors and to Suppliers
- Processing other Bank Receipts and Payments
- Setting up the Fixed Assets Register
- Customising Final Accounts
- Adjusting for Accruals and Prepayments
- Month End Procedures
- Reports and VAT Returns.

Career Opportunities
This course provides an additional skill for someone employed in a book-keeping environment

Progression
This is only one unit of an HNC course. Students may wish to continue in either Business Administration, Accounting or Administration and Information Technology in order to gain an HNC qualification.

Preferred Entry Requirements
Students are required to have good keyboarding skills, as well as some knowledge of basic book-keeping.
