'' The Modern Apprenticeship in Customer Service is designed by the Institute of Customer Service to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in a Customer Services environment or related area at supervisory level.
Structure Candidates can undertake this qualification in their own workplace or they can use the college facilities on a day release basis for the purpose of gaining knowledge and for the authentication of work based evidence.
The prime source of evidence must be provided from the candidate¡¯s own workplace. The qualification is delivered as part of a continuous course with access at any time throughout the year. Students will create a portfolio of evidence to prove that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding and that they can carry out their job competently in the work place.
The Institute for Customer Service sets the national standards for Customer Services and they award the Modern Apprenticeship Certificate. In addition candidates will be credited and separately certificated for all the elements contained in the Modern Apprenticeship course by SQA.
Content The Modern Apprenticeship framework is made up of the SVQ Level 3 in Customer Service. The SVQ framework is made up of five mandatory units and one optional unit. The mandatory units cover the following areas: - Organise, Deliver and Maintain Reliable Customer Service - Improve the Customer Relationship - Work with others to Improve Customer Service - Monitor and Solve Customer Service Problems - Promote Continuous Improvement.
The Modern Apprenticeship will also include four additional units from a related SVQ and core skills.
Career Opportunities The Customer Service Modern Apprenticeship will provide an opportunity to develop and improve competence in a customer service environment and will result in the award of an up-to-date National qualification and so enhance career progression.
Progression The Institute for Customer Service are currently designing a course for SVQ Level 4. Once this becomes available it will provide a natural progression route.
Preferred Entry Requirements A Modern Apprentice must be in employment and in order to attract Skillseeker funding should be between the ages of 16 - 25. Funding may also be available to employers for individuals over the age of 25. Appropriate Higher National units will provide the underpinning knowledge for this qualification. ...''
