Course Description:

'' This course is designed to develop knowledge and practical skills in the Process of Drama, Theatre Technique, Performance, Production and Community Drama. It may also be used to acquire personal skills or to explore an interest in the Process and Performance of Drama. The Dramatic Arts NQ offers a good level of training for students interested in a career in the theatre, media studies, working with people or community drama.

Structure
This is a one-year full-time course or a part-time open-ended course delivered at our Halbeath Campus. Assessments will be continuous throughout the year and will involve practical and written assignments, oral and written tests, group collaborative work and public performance. Elements of the course will also be assessed by external examinations.

Successful completion of this course could lead to professional work in the theatre or the performance industry generally.

Drama offers opportunities for social inclusion, organisational skills and self-development. The skills and training provided are used in a wide range of business situations and can be beneficial to a range of individuals including local community musical & drama groups, community workers, Police Officers, Social Services and Teachers. There is an increasing demand for professionals familiar with a wide range of arts activities and knowledge of people management, presentation skills, event technology and skills to make an effective contribution to the community.

Progression
Following completion of the Dramatic Arts NQ, candidates can progress on to an HNC or HND in Acting and Performance or Technical Theatre. In some cases students may progress directly to university to study for a degree in Community Arts, Acting or Technical Theatre.

Preferred Entry Requirements
Entry is by interview and by participation in a tutor led drama workshop.
