Course Description:

'' Students entering this course will have the opportunity to gain basic qualifications in professional cookery and enhance their core skills. This is an excellent starting course for people wishing to pursue a career in Catering.

Structure
The course lasts for 20 weeks from January to June. Delivery can be flexible by negotiation with the college. Practical skills and core skills in Communication and Numeracy will be enhanced. Students may opt to sit National Qualification Intermediate 2 Professional Cookery exams. Assessment will be on-going with the opportunity to sit exams in May and June.

Career Opportunities
Successful students may gain employment in the Hospitality Industry and continue to further their studies at Lauder College by day release.

Progression
Students can progress to a variety of Hospitality courses including the SVQ level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking, SVQ level 2 Food and Drink Service, Hospitality Modern Apprenticeship, or join the Access to HNC Hospitality course.
