'' This unit introduces the vast topics of HIV and Hepatitis. Like many aspects of human life the issues surrounding these diseases are not black and white. Medical, social and personal aspects of these diseases are important and the need to be aware of our own attitudes and prejudices are paramount.
Structure This is a stand-alone SQA National unit which can be studied by open learning or by infilling in to daytime classes. There will be on going assessment throughout the course and supervised assessment will take place in the college.
Content The course covers the following areas: - Routes of HIV Infection and possible Progress of the Infection towards AIDS - Routes of Hepatitis B Infection and possible Effects of Infection - Investigate how Peoples Attitudes can Influence a Holistic Approach in Caring for those with HIV Infection or Hepatitis B - Investigate how the Carer can assist those with HIV Infection or Hepatitis B to be Empowered to Assume Responsibility for the Well-Being of Themselves and Others.
