Course Description:

'' The NQ in Interior Design has been specially designed to build on interests in space planning, room design and three dimensional work and focus existing creative and technical skills for a career in any aspect of the Interior Design field.

Structure
This course is available on a full-time basis usually starting September and finishing the following June. It can also be taken on a part-time or flexible basis with entry points throughout the year. Students will work in a multi-functional arts base and have access to a wide range of design tools and equipment, including multi-media software and scanners. Assessment is on a continuous basis throughout the course.

Content
Subject areas to be covered include:
- 3-D Design (Basic Construction Skills)
- Interior Planning and Basic Design Principals
- Residential Interiors
- Commercial Interiors
- Spatial Design Process.

Career Opportunities
Opportunities exist for successful students to embark on employment in the many varied Interior Design related fields.

Progression
HN level study in either Interior Design or Art and Design is possible following success on this course. Lauder College has links with colleges and universities which could allow students to progress to degree level courses.

Preferred Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry qualification requirements. All applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview. This gives us the opportunity to discuss whether the course is right for you. To help this process we would ask you to bring examples of your work, however, alternative arrangements exist for those applicants who are unable to do so. Mature entry is encouraged and will be assessed on an individual basis.
