'' Study of German at NQ Advanced Higher will allow you to develop your independent use and communicative competence gained at NQ Higher or equivalent. The course will benefit you whether or not you intend to follow a foreign language course in higher or further education. Achievement of a course at this level will be of benefit when gaining entry to a wide range of degree courses.
Structure The course consists of an 80-hour unit and a 40-hour unit. To gain the award for the course, you must pass both component units of the course as well as the external assessment. The external assessment provides the basis for your grade for the course and consists of four parts: Oral Assessment, Speaking, Folio, Reading and Translation, Listening and Discursive Writing.
Content The course consists of one mandatory unit and one optional unit. Mandatory unit - Language
Optional units - Extended Reading/Viewing - Language in Work.
Career Opportunities Language skills at this level should allow you to deal with more specialised language in many areas of work including business and administration, banking and finance and travel and tourism.
Progression This course or its component units provide progression to Higher National or degree level courses in which the language studied is the main or subsidiary subject.
Preferred Entry Requirements Normally you would be expected to have attained NQ Higher German or its component units or equivalent qualification prior to starting on this course.
