Course Description:
'' This sport and recreation course looks at Outdoor Education, Development, Training and Recreation and is designed by the National Training Organisation for people working in outdoor recreation environments. The course is designed to develop your job role and to credit your knowledge, understanding and competence within this area of work. It is currently being offered in a football context but it is appropriate for delivery in any sporting environment.
Structure The prime source of evidence must be provided from the candidate¡¯s own workplace. The qualification is delivered as part of a continuous course with access at any time throughout the year. Students will create a portfolio of evidence to prove that they have appropriate knowledge and understanding and that they can carry out their job competently in the work place. The course is work based with no fixed timescale for completion. The national standards for this award are set by SPRITO the National Training Organisation for Sport and Recreation and are accredited by SQA who award the certificate.
Content The SVQ framework is made up of eight mandatory core units and one optional unit. The mandatory units cover: - The Organisation of People and Resources - Planning and Delivery of Outdoor Recreation courses - Leading The Work of Teams and Individuals - Establishing and Maintaining Effective Working Relationships - Contributing to Improving Personal and Organisational Performance - Promoting a Culture of Health and Safety - Conservation of the Environment. One optional unit can be chosen from a selection of units to reflect the work you do in your own job.
Career Opportunities Successful completion of the SVQ Level 3 will provide the opportunity for individuals to further develop and progress within Outdoor Recreation and related fields.
Progression SCOTCAT points may be awarded on completion of this qualification. These can be credited towards a Higher Education degree course.
