Training Course:BPX Switch and Service Configuration (CI-BSSC)School/Trainer:Global Knowledge (UK) Inc. Dublin,Maidenhead, United Kingdom
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' This course focuses on the configuration of the switches and services available in a BPX network. Participants will be introduced to features and concepts, observe demonstration of appropriate commands, and perform hands-on lab exercises. Lab exercises are designed to demonstrate a participants ability to successfully complete configuration tasks.
Learn How To
Configure BPX nodes from isolation into a network supporting a variety of ATM traffic. Operate and monitor BPX network once traffic is established Course Outline Chapter 1: "BSSC Course Introduction"
Chapter 2: "Cisco WAN Switching"-Reviews basic ATM networking concepts and provides a high-level introduction to the Cisco WAN switching family.
Chapter 3: "BPX Hardware Overview"-Introduces the BPX hardware.
Chapter 4: "Accessing the BPX Command-Line Interface"-Explains how to access the BPX command-line interface (CLI) to perform basic functions, such as logging in and out and displaying online help. It also familiarizes you with the command structure.
Chapter 5: "Initial Configuration of BPX Switch"-Teaches you how to perform the initial BPX configuration that will prepare the node for later introduction into a network. You will define the local characteristics of the node, such as the node name, time zone, port configurations, and printing mode.
Chapter 6: "Configuring Network Trunks"-Introduces the concept of trunking in a network. You will learn how to configure and activate the trunks that connect the BPX nodes into a single network. You will learn about physical and virtual trunks, and the applications for each type.
Chapter 7: "Configuring Access Lines"-Teaches you how to configure and activate the ATM access lines that connect a BPX node to external user equipment. ATM access lines need to be configured and activated correctly to support user connections.
Chapter 8: "Configuring SONET APS"-Explains the operation of the SONET Automatic Protection Switching (APS) feature, which is supported on the BPX switch. An understanding of how APS works is important background knowledge for activating and configuring the APS feature on BPX trunks and access lines.
Chapter 9: "Configuring ATM Ports"-Discusses how to configure and activate the ATM ports that support user connections on a BPX node. ATM ports need to be configured and activated correctly to support user connections. Once the ports have been brought up, you can verify that the switch and attached user device are communicating properly and then provision the user connections
Chapter 10: "Configuring ATM Connections"-Presents how to establish, configure, and monitor the ATM and interworking connections that transport user traffic across the BPX backbone network. Connections need to be established and correctly configured to support user traffic.
Chapter 11: "Routing AutoRoute Connections"-Introduces you to how the BPX node uses AutoRoute to determine connection routes in the network and bandwidth requirements for a connection. Explores the trunk load model and its role in allocating connection bandwidth. Examines automatic connection routing and assigning specific routes for connections.
Chapter 12: "Synchronizing the Network"-Introduces you to the methods and concepts of network synchronization in a BPX network. Describes how to select potential clock sources and how to discover which clock source is actually used by the network. BPX switches must be synchronized to a common network clock to avoid data loss (slips).
Chapter 13: "Troubleshooting"-Covers possible alarm conditions and how to isolate and them. Examines the commands required to set up connection loopback tests.
Course Labs A Variety of hands-on course labs exercises reinforce the knowledge and skills acquired.
