'' People at work can suffer injury or sudden illness. It is important that employers have made arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
When an employer¡¯s first aid needs assessment identifies that a first aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is to appoint a person to take charge when someone is injured or ill and look after the first aid box. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommend that this person undertakes first aid training in the form of a one day emergency aid course. ...''
