'' Understanding the Problems and Possible Solutions. This programme is designed for the personnel who have an interest in the regulation and accounting aspects of decommissioning of offshore oil and gas installations. It will enable participants to appreciate the importance of the problems at the corporate, national and international levels. Legal, environmental, accounting and finance Issues are explored. Participants will be better able to interact within the international oil and gas industry in relation to decommissioning. The main objectives are: regulation of decommissioning (statutory, professional, environmental, international standards); accounting for the costs of decommissioning (statements, disclosure, balance sheet provision, charge to income); funding the costs of decommissioning in international oil and gas contracts (concession/licensing system, joint venture contracts, production sharing contracts, taxation effects).
