'' Efficiency depends on senior management’s knowledge of the internal and external financial environments. Internal information that is vital for decision making may not come to the notice of executives. For instance, middle or lower levels of management may have discovered short cuts to procedures and better ways of processing. Normally, information such as this, will not flow to seniors unless there is an incentive. Or, it may be that assumed efficiencies are no longer happening. Monitoring and evaluation of the business provides an ongoing means of confronting these issues and ensuring the highest possible levels of efficiency are achieved.’

The aims of the programme are to help participants appreciate the importance of M&E to their business, identify what information is already available but not evaluated, and to form an approach to discover new and relevant information that is not being used.
