Course Description:
'' Cisco Multiprotocol Storage Essentials (CMSE) will explain the protocols and procedures involved with designing, implementing and administering Multiprotocol Storage Area Networks. Sample topics covered in the course include how to configure FCIP and iSCSI on the MDS 9000 IPS module and how to position the FCIP PA in Cisco SAN solutions. The CMSE course will review the MDS 9000 series switches and explain hardware and software troubleshooting for FCIP and iSCSI on the IPS module using CLI and GUI management tools. Hardware diagnostics, as well as how to configure, tune and troubleshoot FCIP tunnels configured on the FCIP PA, will also be covered in the course.

Describe basic SAN challenges and how the MDS 9000 IP Services solutions respond to those challenges, and review TCP/IP concepts which form the foundation for skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco?s multi-protocol storage solutions Describe the IP Services Module; its features, functions, and tools; and discuss how it is used to solve fundamental issues in SAN design and deployment. Describe the FCIP standard and how Cisco implements that standard on the IPS Module. Identify iSCSI configuration and troubleshooting tasks for the IPS module. Identify and take corrective actions to recover from failed hardware components or software configuration problems when using FCIP and iSCSI with the MDS 9000 IPS Module. Describe, install and configure the Cisco 7200/7400 FCIP port adapter module in Cisco 7200/7400 Series routers.
