Course Description:

'' The Postgraduate Cer tificate and Diploma programmes are modular in structure and are delivered by means of distance learning. Assessments take place by means of written assignments (one per module) and a workbased project.

The Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma will normally be completed within two years.

The Masters stage is completed by parttime research for a dissertation, usually based on a workrelated topic. Candidates for the MSc should successfully complete their dissertation over a period of one year.

Module 1: Business Management Skills
Module 2: Law and Criminology
Module 3: Security and Risk Management
Module 4: Physical Security, Fraud and Information Security
Module 5: Information Technology Security
Module 6: Research Methods (unassessed for those progressing onto the Masters)
Module 7: Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma Project
Module 8: MSc Research Disser tation

For the Postgraduate Certificate in Security Management degree, candidates must successfully complete the assessed elements of modules 1 and any two from modules 2 to 5. A practical workbased project and repor t complete the requirements of the Postgraduate Certificate award.

For the Postgraduate Diploma in Security Management candidates must successfully complete modules 1 to 5 and module 7, the Diploma Project.

For the MSc in Security Management candidates who have successfully achieved a passing standard for the Postgraduate Diploma may proceed to undertake a parttime research project within an area of Security Management.
