'' This course deals with the purpose of supervision and the role of the supervisor; negotiating a supervision contract; setting objectives to manage performance; motivating your staff; feedback and challenging skills; verbal and non-verbal communication skills; effective delegation; support and boundaries, and the role of the supervisor as mediator.

Over the two days, you will cover:
understanding the links between induction, supervision and appraisal
how to set up an effective supervisory relationship
how to set objectives to manage performance
what is involved in effective delegation
recognising the importance of good communication skills
how to assess your own management style and its impact
how to be in a better position to assess your own skills in offering feedback
supervising and motivating your staff team more effectively

Who is the course for?
This course is for managers who are responsible for the supervision of staff. It can be taken together with the one-day course on appraisal or on its own. The course will help you understand your role as a supervisor, and apply a range of skills used in supervision.
