Aims
This event is entirely practical with no slides! The workshop presents participants with typical situations related to a critical IT purchase their organisation is about to make ¨C a project which can go expensively wrong if handled badly. Lots of problems soon become evident, no business case, challenging suppliers, hidden agendas and a lack of commercial knowledge and information available when making difficult choices¡­to name but a few.

Working in teams throughout the day, the programme will give everyone an opportunity to solve these problems and understand just how important it is to have procurement knowledge and skills in place right from the outset.

This event uses the key messages presented during the ¡°Understanding IT Procurement¡± workshop and focuses on critical areas where the procurement team has a major role to play; including the preparation and evaluation of the business case, development of commercial options and preventing the ¡®done deal¡¯.

Programme structure
The programme presents participants with a typical Information Communication Technology (ICT) project and then encourages them to address the issues and challenges working in small teams in a staged sequence. After each stage delegates will present their solution(s) and be given specimen outcomes designed by the workshop leaders. It is a completely risk free learning environment, but one which gives participants a great opportunity to understand the works of ICT projects.
