'' This course is designed for supervisors and managers with an interest in further developing their coaching roles and skills.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This two-day course will introduce participants to the principles and practices of coaching and provide training in the key skills required to be an effective coach.

Coaching goals, roles, processes and skills The goals and roles of an effective coach The coaching process and how it differs from counselling and therapy How coaching can assist with personal and professional development The attitudes, personal qualities and skills required for effective coaching Core skills Building rapport and relationship Contracting, questioning, listening, diagnosis, goal setting, motivating, feedback, rewarding, facilitating creative problem solving, moving to action and commitment, and constructive confrontation Understanding the other person ¨C their personality, mind-set, feeling responses and behavioural patterns Dealing with resistance Sequencing and combining the core skills to respond to the needs of an individual The ingredients of an effective coaching session Pitfalls and how to avoid them Self-management skills required for effective coaching METHOD OF DELIVERY The course will include short talks with role-play demonstrations of key skills. It will also involve activities to give participants opportunities to practice coaching skills and to receive constructive feedback.
