'' Contracting is generally regarded as the basic legal tool for doing business, and it follows that a sound knowledge of the principles and rules of the Law of Contract and its application developed over two centuries is essential for anyone in government or business today. It is important to note however, that the advent of the digital era over recent years has ushered in substantial changes to the way in which these principles are applied, and it is those with a sound knowledge of this changed environment who will be able to avoid the inevitable legal pitfalls of modern contracting.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This course aims to provide participants with an introduction to the modern law of contract including the issues involved in contracting in a digital environment.
COURSE CONTENT This one day course will focus on:
How a contract is formed, including electronically; How terms become part of a contract and are interpreted; What factors vitiate agreements; How contracts end; Issues of jurisdiction and choice of law in a global marketplace; and The remedies available to parties. METHOD OF DELIVERY The course will be conducted in an interactive, seminar style, with some group work on problem-solving exercises and analysis of case studies constructive feedback.
