'' This workshop is designed for managers, supervisors, prospective leaders and any staff who wish to understand what databases are, how they work and what they can be used for in the business environment. It is a high level concepts course and will discuss the concepts, history and philosophy of databases ¨C there will be minimal hands on practical work as no specific application will be examined.
Students need to be willing to discuss issues and provide an analytical mind to any tasks set within the course.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This two-day workshop will demonstrate the fundamentals of databases and allow the students to better understand the reasons why a database may or may not be the best business support tool for them.
The objective of this workshop is to provide a solid foundation for the most appropriate selection of business support tools for any specific requirement.
COURSE CONTENT Databases are the foundation of most computer applications today. Any application that needs to process and store large amounts of information will probably use a commercial database management system (DBMS).
This Database Concepts course will start with an introduction to what data is, what a data model is, and what a relational database is, and then cover the basics of database design and use.
