'' This course is designed for mangers, supervisors and prospective leaders who are motivated to harness their potential and improve performance at work. It¡¯s for people at all levels, working in the public or private sector, and employees who want to develop their strengths and get the best out of people.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This two-day course delivered over two weeks, demonstrates why emotional intelligence (EI) can make the difference between being good or great and what it takes to become a star performer. It introduces participants to the principles and practice of emotional intelligence with a focus on improving self-understanding and interpersonal communication abilities to maximise work performance.
The objective of this workshop is to provide a framework for understanding the reasons why EI is a critical factor when evaluating high performance in individuals and teams and how EI competencies can be learned through coaching and developed over time to harness potential for enduring fulfilment.
COURSE CONTENT While IQ is about how smart you are, emotional intelligence (EI or emotional quotient (EQ) is about how emotionally mature you are. A critical factor of success is to understand why EI is about the intelligent use of emotions and not about becoming more emotional.
In particular the course will focus on the following topics:
Day 1
EQ: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ; The Framework Domains and associated competencies; Personal competencies; Positive Psychology How to use your strengths to bring flow into your work and improve performance; Tips for boosting personal competencies. Day 2
Leadership Perspective Using your strengths more often and in different ways to enhance performance; Group EQ and understanding teams Social competencies; Solutions focused coaching. METHOD OF DELIVERY This course takes participants beyond the threshold of intellectual understanding into the realm of behaviour change through solutions focused coaching and self-directed learning.
Training methods include: self-assessment, small group discussion, video sequence, case studies, role-play and ¡®light relief¡¯ segments to enhance group participation and learning.
