'' This course is designed for people who seek to express themselves more convincingly and shift other people¡¯s thinking, whether they be clients, colleagues or more senior staff. Getting a response - such as inspiring support, initiating change, motivating increased effort ¨C is an essential leadership skill that builds capacity to deliver business results.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This one-day course extends participants¡¯ understanding of their own communication style and its impact on others, and explores the nature of influencing from the perspective of modeling, relating and explaining. Participants complete an online self-assessment tool prior to the program. There is a fee for this tool which is included in the course fee.
COURSE CONTENT Effective communicators are skilled influencers. During this course participants focus on:
How people make sense of information and how this impacts on their responses; The nature of influencing, persuading and manipulating; Understanding communication style and its impact on influencing people. How to build credibility and trust; The role of emotions in influencing and persuading; The relative merits of ¡®showing¡¯ and ¡®telling¡¯ to persuade people; How to use the voice and language to influence and persuade; and The ethics of influencing. METHOD OF DELIVERY The course is delivered in an interactive, workshop style with short presentations, demonstrations, and group discussions. Practical exercises provide participants with the opportunity to test and experience skills and ideas with a view to incorporating them in their workplace practice.
