'' This course is designed for supervisors and managers with an interest in further strengthening their leadership skills. The focus of the course will be geared to the interests of participants and to the particular leadership challenges that they face in the workplace.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
This two-day course offers participants an opportunity to review and expand their repertoire of leadership skills.

COURSE CONTENT
Topics covered in this course include:

Theories and models for understanding leadership and the factors that influence leadership effectiveness;
Alternative leadership styles and approaches;
The skills and attributes required for each leadership style and approach;
The contribution of emotional intelligence to leadership;
Leadership styles and personality type;
Situational leadership ¨C choosing the right style/approach for the situation;
Understanding the ¡®followers¡¯ and promoting effective followership;
Direction-settings skills, including goal setting and envisioning;
Motivating skills, including energising, aligning and communicating to influence
Enabling, supporting and empowering skills ¨C the leader as servant;
Instrumental leadership ¨C designing and creating structures, systems and processes;
The leader as coach and facilitator;
Leading teams;
Leading change; and
The self-leadership skills required for effective leadership.
METHOD OF DELIVERY
Learning methods will include short presentations, group discussion of case studies, syndicate projects, and training activities with coaching and feedback.
