'' Presentation skills are a foundational and fundamental business tool. They form the basis of every relationship we have with our clients, of every service or product we sell or deliver, and of every success we have in business. Whereas once professionals could ¡®wing it¡¯, in today¡¯s marketplace those who are in the ¡®front line¡¯ representing their organisation no longer have that luxury. This course is designed to develop and sharpen the skills of those who are currently responsible for representing, promoting or marketing their organisation, as well as those who a seeking to develop and enhance their presentation skills to improve their employment and promotion prospects.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The way any organisation or department reflects its image, values and vision both internally (amongst staff) and externally (for clients and suppliers) largely comes from the way people present themselves. The aim of this two-day course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to better present themselves and hence the organisation they represent in a more positive and dynamic way. Participants will be taken through practical exercises to develop and enhance their ability to prepare a talk quickly, to deal with both formal and impromptu presentations, to overcome nerves, to project and modulate the voice, and to use body language and support material to the fullest to ensure delivery of a memorable presentation.
COURSE CONTENT This two-day course will focus on the following topics:
Structuring your presentation Tailoring the presentation to your audience Creating an opening which has impact Selecting and designing your visual support Understanding how audiences process material Why you have nerves and how to control them Hand gestures and body language i.e. non-verbal communication Effective ways of handling questions Ways of dealing with negative or unresponsive audiences When and how to inject humour The different ways of using your voice How to motivate the audience Ways of delivering a powerful close or conclusion METHOD OF DELIVERY The course will be very interactive, with group exercises, video examples, open discussions, examples of great presentation styles, and a number of practical exercises to enhance the presentation and communication skills of participants.
