'' The course is designed for public sector staff who wish to understand their responsibilities and learn how to confidently conduct an effective selection process within the APS framework.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This one-day course is based on the APSC Get It Right kit. It goes beyond procedural requirements to place the process in the context of staff retention, enabling applicants to experience dignity throughout the selection process.
Whether managing the recruitment and selection process or being a selection panel member, participants will expand their knowledge and skills so they can carry out these roles with confidence and achieve effective outcomes.
COURSE CONTENT This program is structured around five modules:
The recruitment and selection framework for the APS; Defining the need and attracting applicants: job definition, crafting selection criteria, choosing selection options; Selection the right person: assessment methods, interviews, referee reports; Reaching a decision, giving useful feedback, welcoming the successful applicant; and Outcome planning: developing an action plan to apply learnings. METHOD OF DELIVERY The course is delivered in an interactive, workshop style with short presentations, demonstrations, practical exercises and group discussions.
