Training Course:Scenario PlanningSchool/Trainer:University of Canberra Canberra, ACT, Australia
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' This course is designed for middle-level managers in all sectors, especially those with responsibility for supporting strategic planning and policy development. Management at this level is concerned with the ability of policy and programs to remain effective in the face of inevitable organisational and environmental turbulence. This course is a useful extension for the ¡®From Scanning to Planning¡¯ course also offered by PMP.
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES Much strategic business planning anchors us to the present, a victim of past experiences and hostage to rigid interpretations of our strategic circumstances. Creative, out-of-the-box thinking is necessary to visualise better tomorrows and mitigate the risks in an uncertain business environment. Scenario Planning allows us to better understand the present by considering future extensions and their implications. The aim of this course is to provide tools, which allow us to better deal with the modern chaotic business environment.
COURSE CONTENT This two-day course will focus on:
futures thinking; scenario planning process; and creating and using scenarios for strategic planning. METHOD OF DELIVERY The course is structured using a proven three-step methodology for scenario planning. Course participants will receive short blocks of theory for each step, then practical exercises to apply the theory to a real world problem of the participant¡¯s choosing. The course culminates with each participant producing a set of pertinent scenarios for their selected real world problem.
