'' This course is designed for middle and senior-level managers in all sectors, especially those with responsibility for policy development or program delivery. Management at this level is concerned with the ability of policy and programs to remain effective in the face of organisational and environmental turbulence.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Much strategic business planning anchors us to the present, a victim of past experiences and hostage to rigid interpretations of our strategic circumstances. Creative, out-of-the-box thinking is necessary to visualise better tomorrows and mitigate the risks in an uncertain business environment. Strategic foresight is the capacity to better understand the present by considering future extensions and their implications. The aim of this course is to encourage adaptive strategic approaches, which are better able to deal with the modern chaotic business environment.

COURSE CONTENT
This two-day course will focus on:

Analysing complex, strategic problems, interpreting their dynamics and determining future-focused problem solving approaches
Applying a selection of simple frameworks, techniques and powerful tools appropriate for complex, strategic problems
Seeking creative, transformative and innovative solutions to complex, strategic problems
METHOD OF DELIVERY
The course will be conducted through practical small group learning optimised for adult participants and emphasising ¡®learning by doing¡¯. A series of key questions about the planning environment will be addressed in a structured way using a ¡®toolbox¡¯ of modern, versatile but simple analytical techniques. Each analytical technique will first be explained, then demonstrated using a case study, and finally practised by workshop participants through application to their own business challenges.
