What is the course about?
This is an ideal first step to learning about and using computers for visual arts subjects - if you have never used computers or are used to using Windows, this course is for you.
This introductory course will give you an overview of using the Apple Mac computer and other periferal devices, like scanners, for inputting and outputting artwork. In the digital studio you will learn how the computers are set up and how to use them.
Basic instruction on handling the mouse together with an excellent overview of the computer as a whole.
Being able to ask any questions you want is an important aspect of this programme. All courses include both work that is done as a group and individual help. This is a practical introduction for those students unfamiliar with using Apple Macs and an opportunity to understand the operating system.

The course is designed very much as the first step into the arena of digital imaging and visual arts computing. Carefully structured activities will provide a guided tour of the systems main features. It is envisaged that by the end of the day you will be able to operate the computer, undertake basic tasks in the applications, and be ready for a more specialised course.
