'' This course explores black and white drawing as an end in itself, not as a preliminary to another activity. You will use this imaginative process combining medium and paper to create a uniquely expressive image. Basic materials included.

This is a course for which some basic drawing skills would be useful but not essential.

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)
Four formal themes - touch, rhythm, light and space will form the basis of study for this exploratory course. A variety of approaches will be used, from quick direct responses to slow layering of marks into complex images. A project using music as a stimulus will be included. Subjects will range from single objects to complex spatial arrangements.

By the end of this course you should be able to:
• Select black and white drawing materials in which to embody a range of ideas, sensations and emotions.
• Tune with greater imagination the light, space and rhythm within a simple composition.
