'' Learn dances from different parts of the world and develop your own movement ideas. Work in a supportive group to create a dance piece.

What is the course about?
It is an opportunity to develop confidence and enjoyment in dance by exploring dance forms from different parts of the world, and other movement ideas. We will work towards devising a dance piece based around a story.

What level is the course?
The course is for students with learning difficulties and with mixed ability in the subject

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)
- Physical warm-ups
- Co-ordination and rhythmic exercises
- A variety of dance forms from around the world
- Working towards representing a story through dance.

What can I expect to achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Demonstrate an ability to follow a set of coordinated movements in a ’warm-up’;
- Learn two or more types of ethnic dance e.g. Indian, Brazilian;
- Develop and improve your sense of rhythm using a variety of music;
- Develop your ability to copy steps and develop them yourself;
- Increase your control and flexibility of movement;
- Take an idea and work as a group to make decisions on how we might make a piece.

You will negotiate with the tutor more specific outcomes, based on the above, to suit your ability and experience.
