'' If you have completed ’Cello level 3’, or have had at least four years’ tuition (approximately grade 5 and above), come and explore technical and interpretive matters through ensemble and solo repertoire.

What is the course about?
To explore technique to a more advanced level, develop all round playing ability and study music from the vast cello ensemble repertoire.

What level is the course?
You should have had at least four years’ regular tuition or grade 5 equivalent or above.

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)
- Classes will include technical work and ensemble playing.
- Solo repertoire will be explored and studied.
- We will work on scales and arpeggios up to four flats and four sharps, chromatic scales, all positions up to the 7th position and development thumb position.
- Vibrato, shifting, string crossing, chords and bowing techniques will be covered.
- Tenor and treble clefs will be discussed
- Further developed awareness of musical structure

What can I expect to achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- have some knowledge of all neck positions and thumb position
- understand the use of tenor and treble clefs
- sight read more fluently
- play with improved tone production and vibrato
- play ensemble music in four parts (covering various periods and styles)
- have a working knowledge of some solo repertoire
