'' A lively group, providing vocal and stage training for singers. Includes workshop performances and a full scale end-of-year production. Auditions will be held on 13th & 14th September. Please phone the music department to book an appointment.

What is the course about?
To give operatic performance training and experience to singers. Please note that this is a full academic year¡¯s course

What level is the course?

You must be at ABRSM grade 7 or higher or at City Lit Working towards performance or Singing as performance workshop levels
You must be able to read music fluently
Consideration will be given to the present vocal aptitude and musical abilities of individual students when casting for staged performances
Entry is by audition

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)

Vocal coaching and guidance on technique with reference to the operatic repertoire
Broadening of individual repertoire and guidance on its suitability for either auditions or productions
Performance technique including stagecraft and the art of communicating with an audience
Staged workshop performances and a full-scale end of year production to be announced.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

To perform to a high standard both as a singer and as a stage performer
A greater knowledge of the operatic repertoire and its suitability
To have some experience of working within the context of an opera company
