'' A new and exciting course allowing you to develop your choreographic and performance skills. Explore various dance styles through rehearsal to set performed dance pieces. Those taking the BTEC First Certificate in Performing Arts (Dance) must pay an additional £65 exam fee.

What is the course about?
This course is about the practice and rehearsal of various dance styles and developing these on to the performance of set choreographed dance pieces

This course is aimed at people who have had some experience of dance.

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)
The course will cover a minimum of two dance styles e.g.jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap, folk etc. The basic steps of these styles will be practiced and developed as learners skills increase. These steps will then be put together as a choreographed dance piece for the group and in doing so various choreographic techniques and styles will be looked at and covered.

What can I expect to achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to:
Increased understanding of the background and practice ability in a minimum of 2 dance styles.
A greater understanding of the choreographic techniques.
A greater understanding of how to choreograph a set dance piece.
A greater understanding of how to work as part of a dance group with other people.
A greater understanding of performance skills and performance ability.
