'' Learn the basic technique and step sequences of this sensual Latin American dance, as well as a little of its history and musical development. Beginners and more experienced students welcome.

What is the course about?
You will gain a thorough knowledge of the Tango technique, as well as learn many sequences and how to improvise on the dance floor. You will also learn a little about the history of Argentine Tango, which influenced the philosophy of this dance. You will become familiar with a wide variety of its exciting music.

What level is the course?
This course is designed for anybody, from complete beginner to intermediate level and as the course progresses into terms 2 & 3 complete beginners joining the course will be helped with additional support from the more experienced students.
Term 1:
Beginner level : We will focus on learning the basic technique and principles of Tango dance including the Tango posture, Tango walk as well as learning some basic sequences. In this course you will also learn a bit about socio-historical background of the Tango dance, as well as the social dance etiquette, practiced in Argentina.
Term 2:
Improver level/follow up: You will learn more technical details and the basic principles of improvisation and interpretation of the variety of Tango music, which will enable you to dance socially. You will also learn about music, rhythm and structure of Tango, Milonga and Vals (dances closely related and danced alongside each other).
Term 3:
Intermediate level : You will gain a deeper understanding of the music, technique and learn new challenging sequences with more attention to detail. You will also learn about social dance etiquette as practiced in Argentina and visits to social dances will be organised..

Getting the correct posture and balance necessary for dancing Tango.

Understanding the structure of Tango Music - learning to travel anti-clockwise on the dance floor.

Learning about two more dances from Argentina, practised alongside Tango, Milonga and Waltz.
Visiting a social dance venue.
Visiting Tango festival in November.
