Course Description:

'' Train to be a care/support worker. Before enrolling you must have successfully completed the ’Pathways to working in the care sector’ course and attended a selection interview. You will attend college one day each week and do a work placement in a care/support setting two days each week. The course runs for six months.

What is the course about?
The course is about you working as a health or social care worker with adults who require care and support to live independently.
The course covers the Health and Social Care employers’ standard induction requirements:
Develop own practice
Health and Safety
Support and protect individuals in a health and social care setting
Communication
The course is an apprenticeship scheme and it is anticipated that the majority of learners will at some stage be offered work at their placement.

The course is offered at level 2.

What will the course cover? (contents,themes,projects)
The course provides an introduction and foundation for a career in health and social care.
The four areas that are covered are:
Developing your own knowledge and practice.
Promoting the rights of the individuals you support.
Communicating and completeing records at work.
Health and safety practice.

You will attend college 1 day each week and spend 2 days a week at a work placement for 6 months.
