'' The Master of Public Administration (MPA), offered through the College of Arts and Sciences in conjunction with the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, provides advanced education in administration for persons employed in the public or non-profit sectors, as well as for those seeking entry to careers in administration. The interdisciplinary program addresses the educational needs of those with specialized, technical, or liberal arts degrees, and those seeking to expand or update their administrative education.
Core administration courses form a solid educational base. The curriculum includes core courses in public administration, courses from one of the four concentrations, work in analytical methods, and an applied research project. Internships are usually required for students with less than two years experience in administration. Students may follow a general MPA course of study focusing on government administration or a concentration in criminal justice administration, health care administration, administration of nonprofit agencies or educational administration.
The MPA General Program is designed to provide advanced education in administration for persons employed in the public or nonprofit sectors, as well as for those seeking entry into careers in administration.
