'' This short course provides a total system approach to global supply-chain/logistics management. It begins by reviewing organizational systems and their process based hierarchy and ends by presenting a sound model for an effective industry supply chain. Further, it explores the global logistics topics and strategies in detail. Activities involved in physically moving raw materials and finished goods inventory from point of origin to point of use or consumption, through every tier of supply chain system, are discussed. Areas covered will include: the role of supply chain or logistics in the economy and organization; global logistics/supply chain management and strategies; performance metrics in the connected world; transportation; and customer service.
Course Objectives At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Learn about important metrics for measuring performance of supply chain system. Understand how to prepare a successful supply chain plan utilizing advanced technologies. Understand lean principles as they apply to services and specific processes that are critical to service industry.
