'' Students develop language skills, while studying the fundamental elements of the Portuguese language within a cultural context and in a comfortable and fun environment. Speaking, listening, reading comprehension, writing, and cultural awareness are developed through an innovative, communicative approach. The popular culture of Brazil is analyzed through music, film, children¡¯s books, and short pieces of fiction and non-fiction. The course is conducted in Portuguese. The professor, of course, makes exceptions for students who need assistance; but this relaxed submersion in the language really works. Textbook required. 25 hours.
