'' The Medical Office Procedures Certificate emphasizes the principles of working in a healthcare office or hospital setting and assists the student in obtaining skills used in entry-level healthcare positions such as receptionist, file clerk, or unit coordinator. Students gain experience in understanding medical law and ethics, utilizing effective oral and written communication, and managing office procedures, including appointment scheduling, patient reception and registration, medical records, medical billing, health insurance, and business operations. Students utilize MS Word, the Internet, telephone, and email during the program. Students must successfully complete five courses, plus one elective, from the list below, in order to receive a certificate.
