'' Psychosocial Rehabilitation consists of state-of-the-art techniques employed to provide direct care to people with mental illness residing in the community. It is an innovative field that empowers and encourages individuals to care for themselves. Psychosocial rehabilitation practitioners provide social, vocational, residential and self-care services. There are ample career opportunities in a variety of psychiatric and community mental health settings. The knowledge and skills of the psychosocial rehabilitation and treatment practitioner qualify him/her to provide day programming, activity groups, rehabilitation tasks, pre-vocational training, case coordination, advocacy, and crisis intervention. In addition, practitioners learn to provide employment, residential and educational services for people with mental illness.
