Training Course:Managerial LeadershipSchool/Trainer:Tata Management Training Centre Pune, Maharashtra, India
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' In today’s intensely changing business environment, managers need to lead and implement change. They need to exhibit dynamism in their leadership. The strategies that are effective in one situation are not necessarily effective in another. Worse, the strategies that were effective yesterday may not be effective in the same situation today. The average manager tends to become trapped in his/her own style and in the organisation’s cultural values. Such a manager tends to employ very similar strategies of influencing people in a wide variety of changing situations.
Effective managerial leaders, on the other hand, are behaviourally adaptable. They perform multiple roles, and are able to integrate opposing demands. They need diverse skills to allow for flexibility in successfully managing and leading in diverse situations.
This programme highlights a leadership framework, which helps participants understand the nature of, and the needed balance between, competing values for effective personal and organisational performance. The framework reflects the complexity confronted by people in today’s organisations, and provides a practical tool to increase the behavioural choices and thereby enhance effectiveness.
Objective The objective of this programme is to provide a useful, new framework (lesser known in India, though well accepted internationally), for examining leadership and organisational effectiveness. The programme will focus on the participants and their leadership roles in the context of their organisations. It will help the participants to meet the following needs:
To recognise the different competing and conflicting demands that invariably govern the lives of managers To appreciate the value that each of these demands represent - and recognise the downside of over-emphasising each of them To appreciate and use the roles and behaviours associated with these different values appropriately To dynamically integrate the roles and behaviours while dealing with the managerial dilemmas that they encounter in their work lives Contents Introduction to the framework, and detailed coverage of :
Managing organisational process (Internal process model) Managing co-ordination Managing the control system Monitor and co-ordinator roles
Managing in a competitive marketplace (Rational goal model) Managing competitiveness Energising employees through goals and performance Producer and director roles
Managing innovation and transformation (Open systems model) Managing growth Managing creativity and innovation Innovator and broker roles
Managing values and empowering teams (Human relations model) Managing interpersonal relationships and the development of others Managing organisation values Mentor and facilitator roles Towards the end of the programme, the participants shall diagnose where their organisations currently are (in terms of the above four models), and therefore, where they should be focusing in terms of developing their managerial leadership roles. They will be assisted in making their own developmental plans to carry back to their workplace for implementation.
Who should attend All leaders, whose success depends upon working with other managers or professional staff, will find the programme immensely useful. The programme will be most beneficial for those who not only have managers reporting to them, but also are responsible for influencing colleagues across functions.
