'' the SCC Yoga program offers you a unique high quality Yoga Alliance approved Yoga Teacher certification program as well as a wide variety of general yoga classes for beginning and/or deepening your practice of yoga.

The SCC Yoga Teacher Certification is an accredited, professional program in which prospective teachers are trained in a broad and in-depth curriculum that encompasses studies in yoga philosophy and history, biomechanics, anatomy, detailed postural alighment, therapeutics and the art of teaching yoga. Key areas of instruction are principles of the breath, meditation, postural sequencing, observation, verbal and physical adjustments, postural demonstration, use of voice and organization of course curriculum.

In its overall curriculum SCC Yoga includes a wide range of classes that accommodate students of all physical ability and level of yoga experience. Beginning students, children and seniors, expectant mothers, studnts with therapeutic limitations, and advanced yoga students can all find classes to appropriately suit them.

Yoga is a philosophy that seeks to integrate the whole person through a variety of different practices. These practices as defined in the Yoga Sutras by the 3rd century scholar, Patanjali, include ethical disciplines, movement practice, breathing techniques and practices that develop the art of meditation to lead the practitioner to a higher state of consciousness. It is a practice of moving inward that teaches us about ourselves, our relations to others and helps us to realize our full and true potential.
