Course Description:
'' The Long Beach City College sculpture curriculum is one of sequential progression where students begin with a strong technical background covering the fundamentals of 3-D design and the formal elements of sculpture while investigating various materials and processes. In intermediate coursework, students develop an awareness of conceptual concerns through assigned and self-directed projects. Technical support in the Power Tools Room is under the direction of our shop technician, Adam Teraoka. The success of our program is best measured by the success of our students. Long Beach City College sculpture students have received internships from the J. Paul Getty Museum, won local awards, and organized exhibitions for themselves and fellow students. They have transferred to four-year colleges and universities such as UCLA, USC, Cal State Long Beach and Fullerton, San Francisco Art Institute, California College of the Arts, and the Art Institute of Chicago. LBCC students have furthered their pursuits by enrolling in MFA sculpture programs at the Claremont Graduate University and, most recently, the Yale University School of Art. ...''
