'' Extension offers courses leading to the initial Preliminary Designated Subjects, Special Subjects in Driver Education and Training Credential. Those seeking this credential must meet the following requirements:

Education must include a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university verified by official transcript.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a clear DMV record.
Verification by an LEA that the applicant has completed 12 semester units, or 180 clock hours, in a Commission-approved program of subject-matter preparation in driver education and training.
Completion of a two-semester (or three-quarter) unit course in the provisions and principles of the United States Constitution or passage of an examination in the subject given by a regionally accredited college or university.
Passage of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) for the Driver Education and Training credential only.
