'' Risk and insurance management is a relatively new profession which evolved in response to changing responsibilities in both the public and private sectors. Some of the major factors contributing to this phenomenon are complexities within the Workers’ Compensation system, increased insurance costs, job safety requirements, increased legal liability/expenses and the development of self-insurance funds. As public and private organizations respond to this environment, many have created full- or part-time positions in risk and insurance management.

Objectives
This program provides a highly specialized examination of "risk" and the management principles commonly used to manage, avoid and mitigate risk within public, private and nonprofit organizations. The courses provide a detailed exposure to insurance and risk management principles, safety and loss control concerns and claims administration.
